What started as a 15-day vegan challenge, ended in a complete overhaul of the way I took care of my mind, body and soul. I started to share my results on my personal page and after an overwhelming response, a brown girl health advocate was born—inspiring others to make healthier choices one meal, one product and one mantra at a time. I earned a plant-based nutritional certification from e-Cornell University.
My blog is a collection of all the neat tips, tricks and hacks I’ve learned along the way to remain centered, fit, healthy and happy. I’ll show you how I do it all without sacrificing myself or my kids. Plus, you’ll learn how to do it without taking too much of your time, energy or money. I give it to you straight, there’s no long essays here, just the nuts and bolts. You don’t have the time to read and I don’t have the time to write it!

My name is Zakkiya, I’m 37, mom living just 20 minutes outside of New York City. I’ve spent over 15 years as a marketing and event consultant with some of the most well known entertainment brands and raised over 1mm for a Grammy award-winning artist’s non-profit. After having my first child, I decided to become a full-time mom. I was happy and fulfilled but still felt like something was missing. I started on a self-discovery that has not stopped, and likely never will. Along the way, I’ve evolved into a meditating, PTAing, mantra-saying, DIY crafting, host with the most, on again & off again (but mostly on) vegan, and an organic beauty junkie who will workout just about anywhere except a gym!
